Tim is the founding partner of Schafer Law, having opened the practice in 2008. Prior to his admission to practice law he worked as a mediator in criminal matters in the Bridgeport, Norwalk and Waterbury Superior Courts. Upon admission to the Connecticut Bar he worked for a small firm in Norwalk where he established himself in the workers’ compensation field
From here he opened The Law Offices of Timothy M. Schafer and continued to pursue workers’ compensation and personal injury matters. As of 2012, the firm has grown yet again and become Schafer Law, with the addition of Attorney Marisa F. Schafer to the firm.
Tim is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut and State of New York. He is also certified in alternative dispute resolution. The attorney has previously served as a juvenile law panel attorney for the juvenile court program in Danbury, Connecticut, which also serves Stamford
In fact, his work and the work of Attorney Marisa F. Schafer in Connecticut’s juvenile court system led to members of the bar and the bench recommending The Law Offices of Schafer Law to Child Advocates of Connecticut for pro bono work. The organization, which has contacted the firm for assistance, helps abused and neglected children get placed in safe homes.
In 1998 Tim earned an Associates in Applied Science through the United States Air Force. He graduated with a B.A. from the University at Albany, State University of New York in 2001 as a dual major in English and Medieval and Renaissance Studies. In 2005 he graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac University, School of Law and served as an Associate Editor of the Probate Law Journal and a judge on the school’s Judicial Board
He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force on active duty from 1994 until 1998 and as a reservist from 2001 until 2004. He has been decorated on several occasions to include two Air Force Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service Medals and an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor.
